THINKBOT

As technology continues to evolve, computers are becoming today's thinkers.Human kind is becoming more and more reliant on computers to perform many of our everyday tasks. Thinkbot’s strong bold structure references the famous 20th century sculpture ‘The Thinker’ created by Auguste Rodin in 1902.

The projects vision was to produce a contemporary artwork for the public domain that would deliver an injection of colour, dynamism and fun to the area. It was considered that North Perth needed a greater community focus and a distinctive Town Centre.

The artworks were designed to be tactile objects, with human interaction in mind and the materials were selected to fit their intended purpose. Bright, happy, energizing colours were favoured. The locations of the artworks were taken into consideration with regard to the subject matter used. Materials were selected based on their function as a tactile objects and their resilience in the public realm.

The robots are going about normal everyday activities as any local community member would be.

The three individual works comment on how technology effects human kind and every day life. These works with their quirky, humorous nature simultaneously project the future whilst reflecting on the past.
